About Dr. Paya
Dr. Paya
obtained his medical degree
from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. He then received his surgical training
from University of California, Irvine. He underwent a subspecialty in laparoscopic
bariatric surgery training where he learned for an entire year how to perform bariatric
surgery. Obesity is a complex, chronic disease. Many factors contribute to it.
Dr.
Paya has performed hundreds of laparoscopic operations. His expertise is to perform
laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and laparoscopic gastric banding for those
struggling with obesity. Dr. Paya has formulated a multi-disciplinary approach to
obesity surgery which include a bariatric surgeon, anesthesiologist, nutritionist,
psychologist, exercise facility and exercise trainer. An entire team will help the
patient in every aspect of their new challenge. All operations are performed in
a
hospital setting. After surgery patients join the fitness and rehabilitation course
to maximize and maintain their weight loss.
Dr. Paya has operated on patients all
around the United States. He has written multiple chapters in books such as Educational
Review In General Surgery and Problems In General Surgery. Dr. Paya has given lectures
all over United States on bariatric surgery. He is a Diplomat of American College
of Surgeons and Board Certified in General Surgery. He is a member of American Society
of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, American Society of Bariatric
Surgery and American College of Surgeons. Dr. Paya has created multiple videos on
bariatric surgery, on different techniques and maneuvers for other bariatric surgeons
to learn and
use.
